Living with Diabetes: A Sweet but Dangerous Life

Blood sugar is the source of energy that comes from the food that you eat.  If you have too much blood sugar in your blood, you could be in danger and might have diabetes.  Diabetes is a condition in which your blood glucose (a type of sugar) is too high. Isn’t it sweet? It occurs when your pancreas can no longer produce insulin, or your body cannot use insulin effectively.

What is insulin? 

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas. It helps in the absorption of glucose from your bloodstream into the different cells of your body to produce energy.  A high level of blood glucose can damage the different organs of your body if taken for granted.  There are so many possible complications such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failures, vision problems, feet injury, and nerve injury.  It is a sweet but dangerous life, indeed.

Is regular check-ups and blood examinations important?

Regular check-ups and blood examinations are vital to monitor your health.  Make sure to keep your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol level within the normal range to reduce the risk of having such complications.  Every time you visit a doctor, you should have your blood pressure checked.  It should be under 130/80 to avoid serious complications.  Monitoring your blood glucose is vital in reducing your risk.  It gives you information on how your medication, food intake, illnesses and stress, and exercise affect your condition. Maintain your cholesterol level within the normal range.   Too much LDL or bad cholesterol in your blood builds up plaque in the blood vessels that can cause a heart attack or stroke.

What are the ways to reduce the dangers of diabetes? 

There are different ways on how to reduce the risk of having complications if you have diabetes. Monitoring your weight, eating healthy foods, reducing alcohol intake, and not smoking will help reduce your risk.  Obesity is a high risk of complications, so there is a need to lose excess weight for a healthier body.  You exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight. A regular 30 minutes of exercise a day can help improve your health.

Having diabetes can be very frustrating. You can’t eat sugary foods and even limit your food intake, but you have to be strict with your diet regimen if you want to live healthier. Eat foods high in fiber, low fat, and low sodium foods.  You should avoid foods high in saturated fats, which include full-fat dairy products, fatty meats, pastries, biscuits, cakes, coconut cream or coconut milk, palm oil, and fatty fast-food products.  Alcohol intake is a risk factor, so you should limit your intake for maybe one or two standard drinks a day.  Smoking can gravely affect your health.  It leads to cardiovascular diseases, heart attack, and stroke.  People with diabetes who smoke have uncontrollable blood sugar more than non-smokers with diabetes.

A healthy life is a sweet life

Living a life with diabetes may sound sweet because of all your excess blood sugar, but it can be very detrimental to your health.  Diabetes is a pressing condition that affects your whole body.   It has a significant impact on the quality of life you are living. It reduces your life expectancy when you will not take it seriously. It requires daily self-care to reduce multiple complications.  Although there is no cure for it right now, you can still enjoy your life by living a healthier lifestyle and educating yourself about the facts of diabetes.

Welcome to the New Decade 2020

Few things I realized this 2019 which for sure will pave for a bright and happy 2020.

This year has been tough for sure but for me 2018 was tougher. It was a hell of a roller coaster ride of different emotions such as being happy, sad, in despair, pain etc.The struggles are real, but I learned so many lessons as well.

I learned that letting go of the past is still painful because deep inside you are still holding on. But it is okay to cut ties with some people in your life who are only causing you so much pain. It is hard to let go that’s 100% sure but you should not compromise your peace of mind and your mental health for people who just want to be with you because they can use you. The moment that you finally let go, you will live again.

Self-love is the greatest love of all. No one will love you except yourself. So you have to love yourself. Stop giving yourself to people who wil not even give a few seconds of their time to you. You deserve more than that.

Depression is real. You need to have a healthy mental state. You need to unwind and you have to treat yourself once in a while. Eat alone, watch movie alone and travel alone. At the end of the day, you will be alone so you have to learn to do things alone but make sure to enjoy every moment of it.

Some people are not really your friends. Some will only be there during your happy days, and when they need you the most. But when you are wallowing in pain and misery they will leave you like you are nothing to them.The truth is, all you have is yourself. You have to be strong for yourself. Be strong because you have no other choice, to be able to survive. You need to be brave to chase your dreams and goals.

Most important lesson I learned these past few years is to stop chasing people because it is never worth it. Some people will see you worthless, let them be. But there are people who genuinely sees your worth. Keep them. Some people will make you question your self worth but always remember you are so damn worth it since the beginning. By forcing love and connection will only cause you pain and rejection. Stay away from shitty people.

My pain and suffering happens for a reason. I may not be able to understand the reason behind for now, but soon enough I know I will. What I am sure right now is that these pain and sufferings I am dealing with change me to a stronger and braver person.

My life’s journey always have delays and hardships(as in always) but I still got smile on my face. I learned to be positive and to look at the brighter side of life though it is always a struggle to find the light.

But hey, 2020 I am ready for you!!!

New Year, New Life

Life is full of surprises be always ready to face it. That’s what I remembered my High School teacher told me about life. No matter what life throws us, we should face it with a smile.
Be Hopeful This 2019
If last year was not good for us, let us hope that this year will bring us good fortune. Let us reflect on all our mistakes. Be positive. Learn from it. This year we have 365 days to be better than before. We have 365 chances to correct whatever mistakes we have made last 2018.
Free Your Mind
Worries can bring you destruction. If last 2018 you worry too much, this year free your mind. Do not over think. Learn to let go. Breathe deeply and let it all out.
Smile and Laugh
Always remember to smile. Nothing can straighten things more than the curve of your smile. Learn to smile even life is not well. Learn to laugh to lighten up your life. With your bright smile, things will be okay.
Live Your Life to the Fullest
Live with no worries. Smile and laugh it out loud. We only live once so make the most out of it. Always think positive. New year, have a new life.

How Can I Forget You?

Quietly, I sat under a mango tree. I am wondering what happened to my life. Every single day, my thoughts were rambling. I cannot think straight most of the times. Since the day you left me, I cried myself to sleep every single night. I always remember the days that we were together. It was mostly happy days.
Sometimes I smiled when I remember you but, most of the times I cried. I was so hurt when you left me for someone who you’ve just met. I was feeling sorry for myself because of what happened. I was so sure of myself before I met you but, now I feel lost. All I did is loving you with all my heart. I promised to love you forever and a day. Until now I am keeping my promise.
How can I forget you? How can I forget someone who made me the happiest person on earth? All I think is you. Yes, you. I cannot understand why I am so in love with you. You made me cry a river. You made me forget about myself. You made me love you unselfishly. You made me whole again. How can I forget you?
I make a wish every time I see a falling star. I wish for myself that I can find love once again. I want to find you again. No one else, I want only you. Someday, I will find love. And you.
